I came across this piece of information while researching for a backlinking article I’m writing.
Most webmasters understand the concept of backlinking. Some webmasters do not understand that search engines (mainly Google) give a lot more credibility to websites they believe are authority websites. Most of these authority websites will be the large copporate or Government sites.
Now it’s not an easy thing to get a backlink from the Coca Cola, Nokia or General Motors website, but getting a backlink from Government websites can be easier.
The links below are some authority websites I was able to find. Use them the next time you’re looking for .gov or .edu backlinks.
Note: Any links with the ** after the number are NoFollow, all others are DoFollow and I will not guarantee that all sites will accept you backlink.

Yes i am very much appreciable for this wonderful information..Thanks a lot…
I have approved the “australia cheap airline tickets” for one reason. This is exactly what you don’t do when using comments to get backlinks. This comment is blatant SPAM. If you are going to leave a comment to gain a backlink, why not leave a comment that contributes to the conversation? Read the post, leave a comment and then get a backlink. Don’t disregard the post and then think “I want a backlink so I’ll say something stupid like – Yes i am very much appreciable for this wonderful information..Thanks a lot…”.
If I was going to leave a comment on this post I would have written something like “Approved DoFollow .GOV/.EDU Backlinks” Wow what a resource, Inever thought you could get a backlink from a Government website, you have enlightened me.. thankyou”
LOL. Your comment on the spam comment is quite amusing and even educational. I am just starting to promote my site and looking for information on how to get do follow backlinks from .gov sites. Your suggested sites are highly appreciated. Will check them out and try to leave some useful comments there. =)
Alex Im glad you got a laugh from it
Haha I love the harshness coming down on the comment spammers above. Too funny! I definitely appreciate the resource as it has give me new backlinks from authoritative websites!
And comments like yours TP&TA and Alex are the ones I am happy to approve, thus giving you a backlink. Blog comments are fantastic backlink resources but make them informative or funny
… but the back links you’re giving out are “nofollow” … so what’s the point of spaming your posts?
Ben, I didn’t realise that I had the nofollow attribute. I have now changed that and you can now get a great backlink by adding a great comment on my website.
Steve
I came accross this blog to find how to get some dofollow backlink for authority sites like .edu and .gov I’ve found some, actually 4 from you. Thanks anyway
Putra no worries at all. If you find some for yourself please let me know.
it’s nice to see those samples of .gov backlinks.
great post and comment critique. lol. but u are correct. i checked out a few of the blogs on your list and was able to get a link or two by posting comments directly associated with the article and by NOT using keywords as my “name”. now if i could only get my link in the body of the content somehow i would be in business
Hi!
Thanks for this information. This is very helpful to know, because i would like to do some goog SEO for my company. In our country, there are no .gov domains, for the government either. Poor of us.
